Municipal Elections
Sep 25, 2014
The Municipal Elections are coming up. SDRA and Mazinaw Property Owners Association (MPOA) are working together, spearheaded by Jim Oborne, to have an All Candidates Meeting. The meeting will take place on Saturday, September 27 at 3 pm at the Barrie Community Hall in Cloyne. I have pasted the announcement from the North Frontenac web site below.
Shoreline property owners represent 65% of the voting population in this area. We can have significant impact on who is and who is not elected. Both Addington Highlands and North Frontenac Councils are aware of our two associations. We have made our presence felt at several meetings. Unfortunately, a very small percentage of us exercise our right to vote in this Municipality. Let’s change that. Let’s show the candidates that we are interested in this area. Come out to the All Candidates Meeting. Listen to the candidates and ask questions. And then VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!
I have learned how much impact I can have as an individual lobbying MPs and Senators as I have followed a Bill through Parliament. I have also seen how much more impact I can have when organizations back me up. SDRA and MPOA have impact. Let’s improve that.
This year voting will be online or by phone. There will be no paper ballots. So you can vote from Nunavut if that's where you are. I will post more information as we get closer to voting time.
