Water Level

May 14, 2016

We have received a couple of inquiries about the water level on Skootamatta recently. People have noticed that the water level is lower than usual for this time of year. So Nancy went directly to Quinte Conservation to get an answer. We have a very good, cooperative relationship with them. Here is her report:

I just telephoned Christine McClure from the Quinte Conservation Authority who is the new Water Resource Manager. She explained that given the early run off they were a bit slow to get out to the dam to replace the logs that they removed in the fall.  She has confirmed that this week they went to the dam to replace the logs and therefore the water level will remain at the current level or rise depending on rainfall etc.

She did however state that the levels while low, are within the “ideal operating range.”  She also indicated that they will check the water levels about every two weeks over the summer.

Hopefully, a little rain will bring the level back up to where we like it.
