Consider protection of lakes when voting please...
Dear Friends,
I know I'm speaking to a largely conservative audience but it's time for a change come Oct 19th.
One thing we all have in common up at The Skoot is our beautiful lake and my family has been here for 3 generations. Many of your families have been here longer.
Please consider when voting, the Conservative Harper government stripped away protection to nearly all lakes and rivers in Canada!!
(for more info readhttp://canadians.org/sites/default/files/publications/CP-spring-15-...
But that is just a sliver of the damage done by this government. Under Harper, Canada has lost its position as a world leader in peacekeeping and environmental protection. Among other travesties, the Harper government has attacked our social freedoms (The Spy Bill - Bill C-51), sold off our resources and sovereignty (Nexen Oil & 31 year Canada-China trade agreement/corporate power grab) and committed us to unsustainable and environmentally devastating energy (Keystone XL Pipeline and development of Tar Sands).
There are very few good reasons to vote Conservative this election save force of habit. Please reject the status quo. PLEASE DO NOT VOTE CONSERVATIVE.
Better yet look intohttp://www.votetogether.ca as to how you can help avoid the vote splitting that resulted in our last Harper government with only 36% of the popular vote.
I would love to vote but I have lived outside of Canada for more than 5 years. The Harper government just finished spending nearly 2 million dollars to overturn a court ruling that would have reinstated the constitutionally protected vote of all Canadians regardless of residence. Despite my being unable to vote I am writing this plea to you to make your vote count for change! I will remain vigilant in seeing that we do not suffer further under another Harper term and can start rebuilding the Canada that we know and love!
Thanks for your consideration of these issues come Oct 19th.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Clapp (Bradford - Loon Nest Lane)
